So, like many people, I'm doing a lot of streaming at the moment. Series, films, silly videos to keep my chin up, and I came across a stumbling block... the internet. We all know that there's a journey from source to screen in cinema and apparently, that's no less true of streaming. Over the past few days, I have come to realise the importance of my internet connection in seeing content to it's full potential. So I'm fairly lucky in that I have a fancy all-singing, all-dancing connection which enables me to download oversized files in a decent space of time and allows me to stream without any trouble. What I have realised by visiting my neighbour and watching their Netflix is that I have taken this for granted. They have a wonderful 2019 TV, capable of everything imaginable, but their internet undoes all of this by not being able to keep up. The 4K content is available to stream. The TV is capable of playing it back. But there's that bit in the middle letting us down. Not too dissimilar from the cinema, perhaps?

Just wanted to offer a little bit of positivity during this difficult spot and report that theatrical releases appear to be going ahead in South Korea in early April, China hopefully following in mid-April. We can also report that certain titles have been re-released in some territories, a response to new content not being as available as planned. I suspect turn out and BO will be lower than we would hope, but this is to be expected as people honour social distancing measures. In my 'Glass Half Full' world - this is good news. My belief is truly that cinema is escapism, so as soon as we're able to reopen, people will flock.
