HFR Capabilities of Digital Cinema Equipment - White Paper

Avatar 2: The Way of Water has the potential to drive audiences back to the box office in a way not seen since before the pandemic and to re-engage them and inspire them with the big screen experience.

As part of this, the movie will be available both in 3D and HFR (High Frame Rate).  HFR (High Frame Rate) relates to any content that is shown at a higher rate than the traditional 24 frames per second that is commonplace in modern movies.

For many exhibitors, they may be unaware as to the technical capabilities of their equipment and thus unsure as to which version of the movie to request.
