MPS transfers ownership of Cinema Technology Magazine to CTC.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, OCTOBER 10TH 2022 — Cinema Technology Community (CTC), the not-for-profit independent trade organisation and Motion Picture Solutions (MPS) are pleased to announced the transfer of ownership of Cinema Technology Magazine from MPS to CTC.

Cinema Technology Magazine has been a mainstay of the cinema industry for more than three decades and has over the past six years resided under the stewardship of MPS following a transfer of ownership from Slater Electronic Services in 2016.

Ian Thomas, Founder and Director of MPS explains, “it has been a great privilege to support the magazine. CTC has grown to the position where it is a solid neutral home for what I see as the industry’s magazine. Recent expansion of the publication with the inclusion of content from global trade bodies including ICTA, UNIC, UKCA and ECA has been a great addition. The growth of US-based editorial in particular and society information is something that I hope will continue to grow and flourish so the magazine truly is the unbiased international voice for Technology in Cinemas. The magazine will doubtless play an important part in ensuring as an industry we can continue to create the best cinematic experience allowing movie goers to enjoy films as their directors intended on the big screen with astonishingly detailed picture, sound quality and comfort”, Thomas adds.

Richard Mitchell, CTC President comments, “we’re incredibly excited to add Cinema Technology Magazine to our growing range of deliverables to our global members and the entire cinema community. On behalf of the entire CTC team, we would like to put on record our sincere thanks to MPS and in particular Alastair Balmain and Ian Thomas, for supporting and nurturing the magazine over the past six years even in the most difficult of times. We take ownership of a magazine that has been completely revitalised, become more accessible, with a vibrant brand and a first-class editorial team and our aim is to continue to nurture, grow and support the magazine going forward in the same way MPS have done so. We’d also like to pay special tribute and thanks to Bob Cavanagh on his imminent retirement. Bob has been a stalwart of the magazine for many years not just in terms of managing advertising sales but also in earlier years designing the publication from cover to cover. Without his incredible efforts we would not be inheriting such a great publication. We’re excited to start work immediately with Helen Budge, Peter Knight and Dean Chillmaid on the next edition of Cinema Technology Magazine which will be available in December 2022.”
